Vernon (Pete) Leisinger will celebrate his 80th birthday with a family dinner March 14 at Maxine's in Lawton, Iowa. There will be an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 15 at the Moville United Methodist Church. Cards may be sent to him at 513 Fair St., Moville, Iowa 51039.

His children are Dave and Margo Leisinger of Moville, Craig and Deb Sitzmann of Moville, Cary and Kim Leisinger, Lisbon, Iowa, and two stepdaughters, Bobbi and Reed Kneebone, Jefferson, S.D., and Becky and Jeff Lucas, Ann Arbor, Mich. He has four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Pete was born on March 12, 1929, near Soldier, Iowa. He was married to Mary Lou Reitz on May 15, 1950. She died in 1994. He then married Mariann on March 12, 1996.

Pete worked with the Corp of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation. He retired at the age of 60.

Previously he worked for the Town of Mapleton Light Plant in the 1960's.
