Northeast Community College will be offering an Assisting Elderly Parents Course on Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 p.m. begining March 5th and running through April 30th. The role of parent advocate is one for which most people find themselves largely unprepared. The caregiver often feels frustrated and overwhelmed by the myriad of new tasks and information that are sudddenly needed. Through better understanding of our parents, ourselves and the resources available to us, we can meet the challenges and discover the hidden gifts this role brings. This class will arm the caregiver with needed information through presentations by health care professionals, legal, and financial experts, and visits to alternative senior living models. It will also provide an opportunity to share ideas and information with others engaged in parent advocacy. The cost of the course is $40.
